Question: There are those who say that Shaykh ‘Abdul-’Azîz bin Bâz did not deem it to be correct to subscribe to and call oneself as “Salafî” and “Atharî”. Is this true?

Shaykh al-Fawzân: It is not something we know from him. His books call to the following of the Salaf, the narrations and the evidence. He himself was in that state until he died. He followed the methodology of the Salaf. He took the narrations, Hadîths and the evidence into account. His books are available now. They clarify his situation.

Shaykh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymeeya -Rahimullaah- where he said:

لا عيبَ على من أظهر مذهب السلف وانتسبَ إليه أو اعتزى إليهِ بل يجبُ قبولُ ذلك منه بالاتفاق، فإنَّ مذهب السلف لا يكون إلا حقًّا

‘There is no blame for the one who manifests the Madhab of the Salaf, affiliates with it and ascribes to it, rather it is obligatory to accept that from him and that is accepted by agreement, because the Madhab of the Salaf is nothing but the truth.’

فضيلة الشيخ وفقكم الله يقول : يقول بعض طلبة العلم إنه لا ينبغي لأحد أن يقول أنا سلفي لأن في هذا تزكية للنفس فهل ما يقوله صحيح ؟

العلامة صالح الفوزان حفظه الله :
إذا كان يقول هذا من باب تزكية نفسه لا يجوز هذا نعم ، اما إذا كان يقوله من باب البيان لأنه بين أحزاب وجماعات مخالفة ويتبرأ منهم ، ويقول أنا سلفي أنا على منهج السلف من باب البراءة هذا طيب ، نعم

سئل سماحة الشيخ العلامة المحدث أحمد النجمي رحمه الله:
بعض الشباب يتحرج من أن يقول ( أنا سلفي ) فما توجيهكم لمثل هذا ؟
فأجاب حفظه الله :

لماذا يتحرج ؟!! أيرى أن الانتماء إلى السلفية منقصة ؟!!

أليس هو الانتماء إلى أصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم والتابعين لهم من العلماء , والفقهاء , والمحدثين , والمفسرين ؛ أصحاب العقيدة الصحيحة في كل زمان وكل مكان ؛ الذين يتبعون الحق من كتاب الله , ومن صحيح سنة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وعلى فهم السلف الصالح !! أيكون الانتماء إلى هؤلاء منقصة حتى يتحرجوا منها !! إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون . أما إذا كان الواحد يتوخى منهج السلف , ويتابعه , ويقول أنا سلفي هذا إن شاء الله نرجو له الخير ؛ أما إذا كان يتحرج من هذا فربما عوقب على هذا التحرج .
