2- The answer to a question about Taswir (painting, drawing, sculpture, and photography):

Q: Is it permissible for a person to photograph himself and send his photos to his family during the times of 'Eid and similar occasions?

A: There are many Hadiths reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) that declare the prohibition of Taswir and curse those who do it, threatening them with severe punishment. Therefore, it is not permissible for a Muslim to take photos of himself or of any other being that has a soul except when necessary. For example, for passports, ID cards, and so on. We ask Allah to set aright the affairs of all Muslims and to help our rulers adhere to His Shari`ah (Divine Law) and keep us away from all that is contrary to it. Indeed, He is the best One to be asked for help.

Allah is the One Who grants success.
