No Birthday celebrations in ISLAM

Shaikh bin Baz رحمه الله was asked the following, “What is the ruling on the “prophet’s birthday”? And what is the ruling upon the one who attends it? And is the one who does it and dies upon that state [not having repented] punished?”
Regarding birthdays, then there is nothing in the legislation that indicates they should be celebrated, neither the “birthday” of the prophet صلى الله عليه  و سلم  or other than him. That which we know from the pure legislation and what the people of knowledge have established is that celebrating birthdays is an innovation – there is no doubt in that. Since the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم who was the greatest in his advice to the people, and the most knowledgable regarding the legislation of Allah and the one who preached and spread it, did not celebrate his “birthday” and nor did the companions, neither Abu Bakr, Umar, ‘Uthman, ‘Ali رضي الله عنهم or other than them.

It is not a demonstration of love to the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم in celebrating the “birthday”, rather the true love of the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم necessitates following him and clinging to his Sunnah, and defending it, and calling to it, and being upright upon it…this is the true love, as Allah سبحانه و تعالى stated in Surah Ale ‘Imran: 31, the meaning of which is, “Say (O Muhammad SAW to mankind): “If you (really) love Allah then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow the Quran and the Sunnah), Allah will love you and forgive you of your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

📌 حكم احتفال بعض الناس

          بأعياد ميلادهم

🔴 السؤال :

ما حكم الإسلام في الأمور الآتية: احتفال بعض الناس بأعياد ميلادهم، أي: اليوم الذي يولد المرء فيه، وتكرارهم للاحتفال كلما مر على هذا اليوم عام؟

🔵 الجواب :

الاحتفالات بالموالد بدعة لا أصل لها، وتشبه باليهود والنصارى، فلا يجوز ذلك، لا بميلاد الأنبياء كنبينا محمد -صلى الله عليه وسلم- ولا بغيرهم، ولا يجوز للإنسان أن يحتفل بمولده، ولا مولد أبيه، ولا مولده كل هذا من البدع المنكرة، إذا تعبَّد بها فهي بدعة، وإذا فعلها استحساناً فقد شابه المشركين من اليهود والنصارى في ذلك، فهي ممنوعة للتعبد وممنوعة للتشبه، وقد قال -عليه الصلاة والسلام-: (من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو رد)، وقال -عليه الصلاة والسلام- : (من عمل عملاً ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد) يعني فهو مردود، وليس هذا من عمله صلى الله عليه وسلم- وليس في دينه، وهو أنصح الناس -عليه الصلاة والسلام- وأكملهم بلاغاً، فلم يقل للناس احتفلوا بمولدي، ولم يفعله هو -صلى الله عليه وسلم- ولم يفعله الخلفاء الراشدون، ولا بقية الصحابة ولا السلف في القرن الأول والثاني والثالث فهو بدعة منكرة ومن أسباب الشرك فإن بعض الناس إذا احتفل بمولد يدعو النبي -صلى الله عليه وسلم- ويدعو المحتفل به ويسغيث به ويطلبه المدد وهذا شرك أكبر نسأل الله العافية، وربما ظن بعضهم أن النبي يحضر، فيقومون له ويقولون حضر النبي -صلى الله عليه وسلم-، وهذا أيضاً من الجهل العظيم، والباطل الواضح، فالاحتفال بالموالد إن كان على سبيل التعبد فهو بدعة منكر، وإن كان على سبيل التشبه بأعداء الله اليهود، والنصارى فهو أيضاً منكر، فهو بين أمرين: بين بدعة، وتشبه بأعداء الله، فلا يجوز مطلقاً، لا بمولدك، ولا بمولد أبيك، ولا أخيك، ولا بمولد الأنبياء، ولا بمولد الصالحين، بل هذا كله من البدع التي أحدثها الناس، نسأل الله للجميع الهداية والتوفيق.
