Whoever imitates a nation , then he is from them - الفوزان

 Imitating (the Kuffar) could be disliked, or Haram (prohibited) or Even Kufr (disbelief) !

 Imitating (externally) is sufficient to be termed as IMITATING & its not a condition that you should imitate with intention (internallay)

In other words,
imitation occurs even if  you DIDNT INTEND (inside your heart) that you follow/imitate them...
